Hafiz is a highly motivated and passionate multi-instrumentalist as well as the Principal and co-founder of What's Your Jam.
Having had many live performances under his belt accompanied with years of teaching experience, Hafiz is always delighted to share and learn, inspiring his students to yearn for more as he believes education is both ways in any lesson.
Hafiz has an innate ability to clearly communicate musical concepts to his students, and his patient and encouraging nature allows his students to readily ask questions.
He has mentored many aspiring musicians through the curriculum of Rockschool™ and Trinity College London all the way up to grade 8, many of them awarded with merits and distinctions.
He also integrates live performance skills into his lessons, leaving his students wanting more!
Philip L. or as his students call him, Uncle Philip, is notably one of the best instructors in town. His approachable personality almost ensures that there is never a dull moment in class. With more than 10 years of teaching and performing under his belt, Philip will patiently guide you through the common pitfalls of guitar playing like a breeze. He also lovingly told us to put this here: “I hope I get to teach some classic rock songs from the 70s and 80s!” Now you know that if you love those, you’re all set!
Sam L. shares a true love for ukulele playing and music composition. Being exposed to music at a young age made her realize how much she wanted to pick up an instrument - and that was when she found her amazing singing talent, that led her to an opportunity to record with Korean-American actor/musician David Choi! With 10 years of experience singing with the ukulele, Sam dedicates her time to music education. Specializing in Strum-and-Sing with a fun-loving energy, her students can expect to learn strumming techniques, with skills to master the accompaniment of their own vocals, all while smiling and laughing!
Cheryl L. starting singing at the age of 11 and is heavily influenced by her father who is also a professional musician and freelance guitar instructor. Her velvety voice allows her to be well-versed in a wide range of genres that include pop, blues/jazz, indie, soul and even musical! Dubbed as the “Disney Princess” of our teachers, Cheryl is popular amongst the children, with her students always asking for longer lessons! Cheryl has also collaborated with local musicians Gareth Fernandez of The Mama Shop, and Anson Koh.
Halim was a young boy doing covers and singing for school events at 16 years old. As the years passed, that passion grew. Halim's vigour earned him opportunities to work with some of Singapore's renowned musicians like Hetty Sarlene and xx, just to name a few.
Halim has since went into music education - teaching students from primary to tertiary levels in government schools, conducting home-based lessons too.
Some of Halim's strengths include rock and pop vocals/guitar. As the lead singer of the band Nation One that plays the acoustic guitar, Halim aims to be a role model for his students not only as a teacher, but as a musician as well.
He is great at assessing and analysing his students' unique needs, keeping it clear-cut and simple when it comes to theory. He strongly believes music education can only be fun, and finds himself turning mundane practical lessons into fun-filled sessions!
Xianglun plays the piano, keyboards, accordion, and composes music. At LASALLE, he majored in jazz piano and shared the stage with many of his lecturers including saxophonist-composer Dr Tim O’Dwyer. He performs regularly in the local music scene. As a composer and arranger, Xianglun is adept at making music in diverse contemporary genres and forms such as jingles, popular songs, and drama soundtracks, and his styles are inclined toward the more experimental approaches of extended techniques and free improvisation. He is also skilled at working with digital production tools and analog equipment.
Huzaimi Lim is passionate about connecting with people and imparting knowledge. Being formally educated in Music under Lasalle College of the Arts majoring in Music Technology and having an array of experience in Drumming, Live Performing, Sound and Stage works and Sound engineering has made him a well-rounded musician and educator in today's ever changing music industry.
Huzaimi currently shares his passion in music through teaching in various schools across Singapore and performing for live gigs regularly.
Auzaie, also known as ‘Zie’ by peers and industry members, is a Music & Audio Technology graduate. His strengthsare in music production, song-writing, video production as well keyboard and DJ performance.
Zie is currently the leader of up and coming localband, Disco Hue (pop) as well as a key member of Aquila Vasica (post hardcore). His band, Disco Hue has successfully released their EP (mini Album) in 2016 in
a sold out concert at Aliwal Arts Centre. Disco Hue has 2 singles receiving tremendous amount of air play in local radio stations, 98.7fm, Lush 99.5fm and Power98. Their single “I’ll Be Waiting”, which he produced, has
peaked #1 in Singapore’s iTunes Pop charts as well as#3 in 987fm’s Hot 20 charts. The song has over 100k listens on Spotify and over 40k views on Youtube as well.
Zie has performed multiple times at Baybeats andEsplanade with his bands as well as a session keyboardist. His bands have performed at key local
festivals like IGNITE!, Baybeats, Night Festival, 100 Bands as well as overseas shows in major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Bangkok and Indonesia.
Zie continues to write, produce, perform, direct music videos, mix and master tracks for his bands as well as his clients and fellow musicians from the music industry.
Andrea started playing the bass guitar at the young age of 8. Since then, she’s fallen in love with the instrument, which she majored in while studying at Lasalle College of The Arts.
There, she had the opportunity to learn under some of the best bassists in Singapore. In these 8 years since she first picked up the bass, she has been exposed to a variety of music genres. Andrea also has had the privilege of performing numerous times at the Waterfront stage at Esplanade, and graced the stage for a performance for the Prime Minister of Singapore. Currently pursuing her honors degree in performance music at Lasalle, Andrea strives to be the best version of herself, both as a teacher and student.
Heavily influenced by jazz, funk and R&B, Farhan has mastered his primary instrument, the trumpet, since the age of 8 years old. Staying true to his passion even while serving National Service, he was trumpeter of the SAF Military Band. Now a full time member of the Jukuleles and Abby Simone's band MMLD, he performs occasionally at Haji Lane where he first started out, and Clarke Quay, one of the hottest nightspots in Singapore.
Supporting local and international artistes, Farhan has given an extraordinary twist with the fusion styles he creates. This unique style of this has earned him opportunities to share the stage with artistes like Inch Chua, Nathan Hartono and The Lorong Boys just to name a few. He has also appeared on The Straits Times newspaper for the Straits Time Run and the Singapore Motorshow 2017 as one of the performers. With plenty of performing experience to share, Farhan’s kind and nurturing nature allows for his students to feel at ease during lessons!
